Despite reports to the contrary, PSG superstar Lionel Messi is not mulling a return to Barcelona, according to Catalan publication Sport. The 34-year-old is dead set on winning the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain.
Before joining PSG on a free transfer in the summer, Messi ended his 21-year affiliation with Barcelona. The departure of the Argentina international from Camp Nou was one of the most talked-about topics of the previous transfer window. Messi’s first few months at PSG, though, have not gone as smoothly as he had imagined. The 34-year-old has struggled with injuries since arriving to Paris, and has only made six Ligue 1 appearances this season as a result. As Messi failed to establish himself at PSG, reports surfaced that he was considering leaving the club. The forward is rumored to be considering a return to Barcelona less than four months after leaving.
Those assertions, however, appear to be exaggerated. Messi, according to rumors, has no plans to return to Barcelona and is focused on making a huge impression at PSG.
Messi is determined to help Mauricio Pochettino’s side win the Champions League. The PSG player also wants to be in terrific shape for next year’s World Cup, which could be his final major competition with Argentina. The attacker has struggled at PSG so far, but he has no plans to return to Barcelona. Messi is determined to tackle the obstacles and help the Ligue 1 team turn things around.
In PSG’s triumph over Nantes, Lionel Messi shines.
Lionel Messi was the standout of PSG’s 3-1 Ligue 1 victory over Nantes on Saturday. The Argentinean was instrumental in the Parisians’ victory in their first game after the international break.
While PSG took the lead thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappe and an own goal from Dennis Appiah, Messi put the game away in the 87th minute with a strike. He was also a part of Appiah’s own goal preparation. Messi has scored his first goal in Ligue 1 with the goal against Nantes. The 34-year-old will be eager to add to his tally as the season progresses after scoring his first league goal for PSG.
Messi has four goals in nine appearances for PSG this season in all competitions.
