The Tamale High Court, presided over by Justice Richard Kogyapwah, has sentenced a 33-year-old farmer, Mahamadu Issahaku to death by hanging for killing his business mate.
The verdict was made unanimously by a seven-member jury on Agnes Adjei’s murder case. The incident occurred in 2015.
The son of the deceased, Abubakar Sadique who lives in Santasi, a suburb of Kumasi, told the court that his mother travelled to Buokodow near Wale Wale on December 7, 2015 to see her business partner, Issahaku, but never returned.
He said his mother had money on her as she wanted to buy some bags of maize.
He added that he informed the police about it for investigations.
The accused, the son said, told him Agnes had returned to Kumasi when he enquired about her whereabouts in Wale Wale. He said he returned to Kumasi only to find out it wasn’t true.
The police arrested the accused and after investigations, found out that the woman was killed.
The accused led them to Bisata Kura where the body was. However, he claimed she was killed by criminals.
