‘I’m not your puppy,’ says Jurgen Klopp following Liverpool’s defeat to West Ham

Jurgen Klopp couldn’t disguise his disappointment as Liverpool were defeated 3-2 by West Ham in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp told reporters after Liverpool’s Premier League defeat to West Ham that he was not a “puppy.”
The Reds were defeated 3-2 by the Hammers at the London Stadium on Sunday evening, ending their unblemished start to the season.

A free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold and a goal from substitute Divock Origi were insufficient consolation for the visitors.

Alisson’s own goal, followed by a Pablo Fornals strike and a Kurt Zouma header, ended Liverpool’s unbeaten streak of 25 games.

After the game, Klopp couldn’t disguise his anger when asked about various parts of the defeat by BBC 5Live and Sky.

“[The termination of my extended unbeaten streak] is the least of my concerns. “However lengthy a run is, it will come to an end,” Klopp remarked when questioned about the end of the 25-game streak.
“A couple of things happened during the game that were difficult to swallow.”

“If you don’t take chances, you’re leaving everything up to the refs.”
Klopp was then pressed more on the decisions he was alluding to, to which he responded, “It’s extremely fascinating you question that.”

“I’m not sure I want to answer the question if you’re unfamiliar with the situation I’m referring to.”

Do you believe [Alisson was hampered for the first goal]? Is it your responsibility not to have an opinion? Okay, that’s great.”

The decision by VAR not to tell referee Craig Pawson to send out Aaron Cresswell for a challenge on Jordan Henderson divided opinion.

Pawson didn’t even show the West Ham full-back a yellow card, and VAR was called in to determine if the challenge warranted a red card, but the on-field judgment was maintained.

When asked if he thought Cresswell deserved to be sent out, Klopp once again invited the press to form their own opinions.

“Oh my goodness. I’m not your dog. Hopefully, you have your own point of view. Everything is fine, “Klopp stated.
