The National Catholic Secretariat seeks to recruit a qualified and results oriented person for the vacant position of Executive Secretary for the Department of Human Development.The Department of Human Development (DHD) is one of the 5 departments of the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference(GCBC). The Department is headed by an Executive Secretary who is expected to provide leadership for the directorates namely:
• Social Development• Health• Governance, Justice and Peace• Education• Caritas Ghana; a Legally Registered Entity since 2016, operating under the DHD but guided by Management Standards defined by the Global Confederation of Caritas Mission
The DHD is responsible for promoting the holistic development of the human person involving creating conditions for, and meeting his/her expectations of economic, social, cultural, political, physical and psychological well-being in an atmosphere of freedom, peace, justice, equity and security.
Functions of Executive Secretary:• Promote social development and relief projects of the Church to enhance the welfare of individuals and communities.• Establish linkages with international and local funding organizations and charity groups to support the initiatives of the Department.• Attract financial and physical resources to support the pastoral objectives of the Church;• Promote the policy, institutional and functional development of the Health sector and activities of the Church.• Promote the policy, institutional and functional development and implementation of the Education sector and activities of the church.• Promote policy and programmes towards good governance, justice and peace at the national level.•
The Executive Secretary helps to promote the institutional identity and sustainability of Caritas Ghana.• Carry out any other functions assigned by the Secretary General or any other person acting through him.
QUALIFICATION: Education & Experience• The prospective candidate must posess a minimum of a master’s degree in Business Administration or any relevant discipline from a recognized University.• Not less than 5 years successful and responsible administrative experience in a related field.• Evidence of successful implementation and management of project and project funds.• Proficiency in computer applications.
Skills/Competencies. Excellent oral and written skills, Good interpersonal & analytical skills Advocacy skills, Team player, Integrity, Supervisory and coordinating skills. Applicant must be a practising Catholic and a communicant.
