According to rumors, Manchester United will give England left-back Luke Shaw a new contract “in the next [few] months.”
Manchester United has given the 25-year-old a new lease on life. In 2020/21, he had his best personal season to date, as he was a top contender for their Player of the Year title.
The defender made 47 appearances in all competitions and was named to the PFA Team of the Year in the Premier League.
Shaw has carried his excellent form with Manchester United into the Euro 2020 tournament with England. So far in the competition, he has been one of Gareth Southgate’s top players.
The full-back was benched for the team’s first game against Croatia, but he has subsequently started all of their games. At Euro 2020, the former Southampton defender has three assists. In Saturday’s quarter-final in Rome, two of them came against Ukraine.
Shaw’s current deal with Manchester United expires in 2023, but he has the option to extend it for another year. Shaw will be offered a new contract “in the next [few] months,” according to respected writer Fabrizio Romano. Luke Shaw is becoming a better player by the day. “I believe the back four, combined with the incredible Euro performances of both central midfielders, will be more than enough to keep Denmark at bay offensively. Then there are four players to decide the innovations of the game.
