According to rumors in Spain, Barcelona has rekindled its interest in Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso.
Chelsea are willing to move the left-back after discussing the possibility of incorporating him in a deal for Achraf Hakimi with Inter Milan.
Barcelona is planning for left-back Junior Firpo to leave the club this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo, and Alonso has been lined up as a replacement.
According to the report, Alonso has been a long-term target for the Catalans, with the club having already agreed to loan him out last season. Junior Firpo, on the other hand, remained at Barcelona, therefore the Spaniard was not required to be loaned in.
Despite Hakimi’s decision to join Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan is still interested in completing a deal for the winger.
Despite the fact that Chelsea’s manager has changed since January, Mundo Deportivo continues to believe that the transaction will be completed quickly.
Under Thomas Tuchel, Alonso has played more, but he still serves as a back-up to Ben Chilwell.
If he wants to play for Spain again, he may have to depart, and with Chelsea now employing three left-backs, a deal could be on the cards.
