Real Madrid striker has announced that he will retire this summer.

Despite the hiring of Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid head coach, Gareth Bale is said to be seriously considering retirement from football this summer.

The Wales international spent last season on loan with Tottenham Hotspur before returning to the Bernabeu,

where he has a one-year contract.

Bale had a difficult time at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane,

but the Frenchman was recently replaced by Ancelotti, with whom Bale enjoys a solid working relationship.

Marca, on the other hand, reports that unless things changes in the next weeks,

the 31-year-old could retire after Wales’ Euro 2020 campaign.

If Bale decides to retire, Madrid will not stand in his way, since it will save them roughly €22 million (£19 million) in salaries.

Bale might play for Wales against Albania in a friendly at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.
