Police has launched an investigations into the killing of an elephant in the North East Region following an official complaint.
The elephant shot dead by unknown person is believe to be from the area for reasons unknown.
The Regional wildlife manager, Joseph Binlinla said he suspects that the act to be deliberate.
According to him “it is not farming season so there was no crop there to be destroy by the elephant..
And the distance where the elephant is indicates that it was not there to harm anybody, so people intentionally pursued it, more than 10 people pursued it with locally made handguns, he added.
The Walewale Divisional Police Commander, DSP Comos Awe, have assured that his team will bring the culprits to book.
