TV3’s Johnny Hughes has questioned President Nana Akuffo Addo and the top officials in his government about how the Ghana Revenue Authority was able to exceed it’s targets in the heat of the Coronavirus pandemic. He questionsed, “did we use Sika Gari to get exceed the target?” He questionsed the authorities this morning, Wednesday 5th May, 2021, on Newday.
The outspoken journalist maintained that President Akufo-Addo and his government should not hide behind Covid-19 for the untold hardships confronting Ghanaians.” You are telling us we are not in normal times, why do you want to tax us more in difficult times?”
“I remember in the famous 1995 Kumi Preko demonstration, you wore a funeral cloth with a red band. You were mourning. People joined you when you organised the demonstration”.
Johnny Hughes then took the opportunity to hit hard on government officials who are insulting Ghanaians for seeking better living conditions. “When the New Patriotic Party was in opposition, they described the previous administration as incompetent. You did not ask Ghanaians to change their attitude at that time. The system is so bad that people resort to corrupt practices in order to feed their families. he vehemently voiced out.
