According to a report on citinewsroom.com, Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) is set to announce new transport fares after Wednesday in the coming week.
According to this report, the increment of the fares was in view the next few days to come. This was on the account of of the various current price increases on petroleum products and other factors which is having a ripple effect on the transport fares.
The General secretary of GPRTU Godfred Albubire Adogma discloses in an interview with Eyewitness News, affirms that the actual percentage at which the fares will increase will be finalized and and communicated to the public later. He also projected a 30% to 40% increase which he said will be the perfect reflection of the ripple effect as lubricants prices go up, DVLA adjusts their service costs and increased premiums by insurance companies.
However, he assures the public the percentage increase will be lower than he projected and increments won’t be that high as it may affect their businesses too.
