Hon. Kwadwo Banahene Bediako, DCE for Sekyere Central District on Tuesday 27th April visited Nsutaman Catholic SHS to inspect the extent of damage caused by fire that destroyed part of the girls dormitory on Monday 26th, April.
He was accompanied by staff of the Assembly, Fire service, NADMO, Education Directorate, Ghana water company, convenors of works and social services sub-committee of the Assembly and the School’s management.
A meeting was held after the inspection and agreed on the followingas a matter of urgency;
a. That the affected students should be relocated to a newly constructed block.
b.Students uniform at the school’s store should be given to the affected students.
c. Management of the school should furnish the office of the District Assembly for onward submission to Regional office with copies of learning material the affected students will need.
d. Gh2,000 was donated by Hon. DCE to support the purchase of some basic necessities for the affected students.
e. The works department was tasked to do estimate for renovating the building.
f. The Assembly will support the school to cater for any additional cost of the renovation. Renovation is expected to be completed within 3 weeks.
g. The School must improve its security to ensure that students are protected in these difficult times.
h. They appealed to Ghana water company to ensure regular flow of water to the School.
I. Counseling session will be provided to the affected students.
The meeting ended with assurance of support from the Assembly on the emergency measures put in place to help mitigate the effect of the fire outbreak especially on the students.
