“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows”

“`Desperation refers to a reckless abandon in the pursuit of an extreme desire.

It also refers to showing extreme urgency or intensity especially because of a great need or desire.“`

It can be a very great tool when used in the pursuit of God.In Jeremiah 29:13 God says “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”.

And so God expects us to be very desperate in the pursuit of Him.David was one man who was very desperate in His pursuit of God. He said in Psalms 42:1-2;

“`1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?“`

In Psalms 63:1 He also said “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is”.

No wonder God referred to him as a man after His heart.

But desperation can become very dangerous and detrimental when used in the pursuit of anything else other than God.

It usually bring people to a point where they are ready to do anything whether good or bad in order to get what they want.

Desperation to become rich for instance has made some people to use even their own parents and children for money ritual.

Desperation to make money has also made a lot of ladies to sell out their bodies in prostitution.

Desperation to get married have made some people get into the wrong relationships, even to the extent of marrying unbelievers.

Desperation to get quick money have made some people fall victim to fraudulent people who ended up taking away the little money they already had.

Desperation can be very dangerous. It can bring people to a point where they lose their sense of reasoning and throw caution to the wind until they end up making mistakes that will end them in regrets.

Many people have lost even their own lives because of the desperation to get certain things by all means and at all cost.

But this ought not to be so. A great man of God, God’s servant Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche said that nothing in this world is compulsory except to go to Heaven.

So please stop putting yourself under too much pressure to get married, have a child, become rich etc. Too much desperation to get things by all means and at all cost can bring a lot of regrets and disadvantages to your life.

There’s a statement I always say and it’s that; “Anything that God cannot given me you, you don’t need. And anywhere that God cannot take you to, you don’t need to go there at all”.

It is good and necessary to pursue the things you need and desire as much as is possible, but please never make the pursuit of anything other than God a do or die affair. Never put yourself under too much pressure to get anything by all means and at all cost.

Matthew 6:33 says to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other things shall be added unto you. Please make God the greatest pursuit of your life, and He will effortlessly bring every other thing you need in life.

But please stop putting yourself under too much pressure to get things done by all means and at all cost. SHALOM.
