TEXT: JOHN 20:10-12 KJV
“`10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.“`
In John chapter 20, after the body of Jesus was reported to be missing from the tomb after His resurrection; Peter, Mary Magdalene and another disciple all ran to the tomb to probably find out what really happened.
When Peter and the other disciple went into the tomb, they only saw the linen cloth that was used to wrap the body of Jesus. And then after a while, both of them went back home when they could not understand what really happened.
But Mary Magdalene refused to take no for an answer. She stayed back with the determination to find the body of Jesus or to ascertain what really happened to His body.
And then as she stooped down and looked into the same tomb that Peter and the other disciple went into and saw only linen clothes; she saw two Angels in the tomb as well.
Lesson 1- Persistence can make you see the result that others who were not persistence enough couldn’t see.
Others may try and fail; you yourself may also try and fail several times, but if you can be persistent long enough, you will most likely succeed eventually.
Those who refuse to take “No” for answer usually eventually receives “Yes” for an answer most times.
But she refused to be distracted by the Angels. She was out to see Jesus and not Angels, and Jesus she must see.
And then as she persisted further, she eventually saw the risen Jesus.
Now Jesus was meant to first present Himself to the Father after His resurrection before appearing to any man, but because of her persistence, He had to suspend protocols and appear to her first before going to present Himself to the Father.
Lesson 2– Persistence most especially in prayers can hasten the intervention of God and can make Him suspend certain protocols or change timings for your sake.
It was persistence that the poor widow used to weary out the unjust Judge in Luke chapter 18, and put him under pressure to grant her request.
“`Your persistence in prayers can “weary” God and make Him grant your request faster than He would have. Isaiah 62:6-7 says;
6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,
7 And give Him no rest, till He establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.“`
Did you see that? It says to keep not silence and to give God no rest until He does that which you desire. Many believers are not usually persistent and desperate enough at the place of prayer.
They usually pray one or two times and if God doesn’t answer immediately, they stop praying and keep wishing that things will eventually work out on their own.
“`But not Mary Magdalene. She needed to see Jesus and Jesus she must see; and Jesus she eventually saw.
Please learn from her by always been persistence long enough to see your desired results and outcomes in life.“`SHALOM.
