Mr. Kweku Agyemang Manu, Minister-designate for Health has appeared before the Vetting Committee in Parliament on Wednesday, February 10 following a constitutional recommendation before his approval as a Minister and was being bombarded with questions by the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus in Parliament, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.
Haruna Idrrisu, demanding the nominee to produce a particular receipt was objected by the Chairman of the committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, who said such a demand must not be made.
The Minority Leader asked, “Have you seen a copy of the contract with Frontier Health Services Limited charging the $150 per person as part of the COVID-19 testing?”
The Health Minister-designate stated he never saw the receipt but the questioner insisted a copy of the receipt be made available to the committee which provoked an objection by the Chairman of the committee.
“The witness has not admitted that he holds a copy. I am sorry; you cannot ask him to produce it. You can accuse him of not doing his job and not of something he is not part of,” Hon. Joseph Owusu said.
