With celebrities signing up and sharing their membership cards online, the Stingy Men Association has gained attention on social media this week.
Allegedly, the Group is comprised of men who are not able to spend a lot of money on women with whom they are in relationships.The Association’s slogan is “Let Me See What I Can Do.”
How it began
Reportedly, this pattern caused a Zambian man to attack his wife for asking him repeatedly for money to repair her hair. The man, Mr. Leonard Mweembe, told his wife that he could only give her K100 instead of the K150 she demanded because he was a member of the Stingy Men’s Association of Zambia, according to a report by the Zambian Observer on November 15, 2020. (SMAZ).
However, the man was arrested for assault.
The Zambian Observer also stated on 22 November 2020 that an 800-capacity aircraft was purchased by the Stingy Men Association of Zambia (SMAZ), two months after it was created. The money used to buy the aircraft was allegedly realised from the savings of members.
Celebrities who entered
When Nigerian musician and producer Don Jazzy joined the Nigerian affiliate (Stingy Men Association of Nigeria) this week, the group became famous on Twitter. He posted a membership card claiming that he is the Union President of the Association of Stingy Men of Nigeria.
Other Nigerian celebrities, including Mr Eazi, have also posted pictures of their membership cards to announce that they have joined the Association.
Sarkodie also jumped on the trend and requested that Ghana’s Stingy Men Association be included. For him, a membership card was produced and he was very happy about it.
