Both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) went to the 2020 polls and were able to secure 137 seats respectively with 1 Independent candidate.
Both parties are looking forward to Friday 15th December 2021 when the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin will the party that will occupy the majority seats.
However the independent candidate, Hon. Andrew Asiamah who is the Second Deputy Speaker was a Member of Parliament for Fomena on the ticket of the NPP until he left the party to contest as an independent candidate.
Some members of the NDC believed that the Fomena MP would be on their side and have been waiting for an official statement from him to show his stance.
The Independent MP has issued a release on Wedesday, January 13 clearing every doubt surrounding his allegiance to the NPP.
According to the release, Mr. Andrew will be cooperating and associating with the NPP Caucus in the 8th Parliament for purposes of business.
This is a big shock to the NDC.
