#2020POLLS: Police deny shooting reports over attempted ballot-box snatching

With counting still ongoing in the various polling stations across the country, there was widespread reports that one person has been shot dead at Obrachire in the Awutu Senya West constituency of the Central Region.

However, the Police has rejected the reports indicating that the said individual was attacked by a mob and has not be gunned down as carried by several media outlets.

Speaking on the reports, the public relations officer of the central regional police command, DSP Irene Oppong has cleared up the issue and said that investigations are currently ongoing to understand why the man was attacked.

“We have not been able to get that information but then investigations are ongoing, we are in touch with opinion leaders and informants in that area, so whatever comes out will be shared with the media but we want it to be on record that nobody has been shot dead at Awutu Senya West and to be precise, Obrachire,” DSP Irene Oppong said.

According to her, the police dispatched to the scene on time to rescue the man who has been taken to the Swedru Hospital for treatment.
