Good News To Tertiary Institutions In As Education Minister Commissions New Regulatory Body
This morning, the Minister of Education Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh inaugurated the maiden Governing Council of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
GTEC was once created underneath the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1023) to information the things to do of all regulatory our bodies underneath the Ministry of Education. In particular, the GTEC has emerged out of the merger of the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) and the National Accreditation Board (NAB).
In the schooling minister’s remarks, he recalled that Government took the view that a comprehensive, coherent, well-articulated, and holistic coverage framework was once required to allow our tertiary schooling device to reply successfully and sustainably to the desires of the gaining knowledge of society and knowledge-driven financial system that we aspire.
According to him, this used to be what set the roadmap to advance a holistic tertiary training coverage to spell out clear pointers for the last structure, planning, development, regulation, operations, and normal governance and accountability of the tertiary schooling device in one place, and one of the governance problems that emerged was once to merge the NCTE and NAB into a single unit, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission.
