These are names of towns that is always familiar to Ghanaians even though Many hasn’t been to such Towns.

10. KWAHU.

Kwahu in the Eastern Region is known for Easter Celebration feasts.


Winneba is an old Coastal and Traditional town in the Central Region. It is known because of its Traditional Festival named “ABOAKYIR”. Also, Winneba is the home for UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, WINNEBA (UEW) Main Campus. 


Tarkwa is a Gold Mining town located in the Western Region of Ghana. Many might not have been in Tarkwa, but has heard of Tarkwa because of it Mining Activities.


Obuasi is another town which is mainly know for Gold Mining in the Ashanti Region. It is the Golden City of Ghana. It is also known for it Football Club, ASHANTIGOLD SC.


Nsawam is a town in the Eastern Region. It is known for being the home the Largest Prison in Ghana, NSAWAM PRISON.

5. KETA. 

Keta is an old Town in the Southern part of the Volta Region of Ghana. It is the home of one of the Best Senior High Schools in the Region and in Ghana, Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco). Keta is well known as its name if named after “Keta School Boys” (small tiny fishes).


It is a business hub of the Volta Region. It is politically known for fetching more vote for the NDC political party of Ghana. Most importantly, it is a well known International border town among all the border towns of Ghana. You mention Aflao and everyone in Ghana have heard it’s name before.


One of the most controversial area in Ghana is Ashaiman. It is a business hub which is one of the most populous town in Ghana. It is the home of one of the top musicians in Ghana and Africa, STONEBWOY. Ashaiman and Tema are close to each other and only divided by the famous highway (Motorway).


A fast developing area located at the regional boundary of the Central and Greater Accra region, but mainly in Central Region. It records high robbery cases and a very controversial town. It is a very busy area. A complete commercial / business hub.

Tema, an industrial area. Home of most Manufacturing Industries, Major Harbour, and it Residential and Nice Housing Layouts. 

It is the home of many top musicians in Ghana, such as SARKODIE, YAA PONO, CRISS WADDLE, R2BEES, D-CRYME, KWESI ARTHUR, etc.
