After the collapse of church at Akyem Batabi in the Asene Mando Akroso District, 14 people have been confirmed dead, Eric Kwakye Darfour Eastern Regional Minister discloses.
Information gathered from the District Chief Executive of Asenso Mando Akroso, Mr Alex Inkoom states that the District engineer warned the church of the looming danger two week earlier after passing through the area.
According to the DCE, the District Engineer told him that he warned the church member with its executives about the structural integrity and engineering of the three storey building, which was intermittently been under construction since 1994, being dangerous.
According to the DCE, the church members retorted that they believe in God to pro8them also have faith in their Prophet, Akoa Isaac, as spiritual leader making them more than safe to which he stood not to dispute or object.
The congregants of the church of Prosperity, numbering more than 60, embarked to pray and fast for their founder who was taken ill, when the sad incident happened.
The happening of this incident saw many trooping to the scene to render their little efforts in order to save the handicaps.
Disclosed, 14 members are dead, more than 30 survived and were rescued from the rubble but about 20 others feared trapped under the debris.
Personnel from Akim Oda Divisional Police Command, Ghana National Fire Service, Ambulance Service and National Disaster Management Organization have been up to task to rescue the remaining.
