Under the current educational system students are made to learn some stuff they may never need during their work days. Some teachers too are focused on the verbatim of the answers students present to them to those they know in books. If an answer is not ditto with what they know then they will either give low marks or no marks to an answer, This has facilitated students to start the whole “chew-and-pour” scheme in which they do not have to really worry much about they learn being understood. Ask some students a question they will give you textbook value ask them to show practically, they perform worst than nursery students. The need for memorization is not what Ghana needs it needs something more practical students’ complete school after countless memorizations without being understood only to later start anew when they are working almost as if they are now starting school. The whole concept and importance of education in Ghana is waning and dying out.
