Man City will be unstoppable next season

Manchester City since the coming of Pep Guardiola have been one of the best teams in the Premier League. City have one of the deadliest attack in the Premier League despite losing out on the Premier League to Liverpool after winning it two times in a row.

Manchester City were linked with Lionel Messi after he requested to leave the Camp Nou. Messi could have reunited with his former coach but Barcelona were not willing to let their prized asset leave even if it meant he leaves for free next year.

Manchester City have been looking for a defender in the transfer window and Kalidou Koulibaly have been their first choice target. But their bid for the Senegalese international has been rejected by Napoli and Manchester City have now turned their attention to Athletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez.

Reports claims that Guardiola has now turned his attention towards Gimenez as he believes that the asking price for his first choice transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly is a bit too expensive for a 29-year-old.

Gimenez is rated by Athletico Madrid around €120 million. The Uruguayan moved to Athletico Madrid in 2013 and has since then established himself as one of the best defenders in the La Liga. Gimenez is an integral member of Diego Simeone’s side.

Guardiola sees Koulibaly as an option for his side but at 29, the Napoli star is not a long term solution and may not be the best of partner for Aymeric Laporte at Etihad.

The 25-year-old is however a ball playing Centre-back and can find the right pass to set up attacks, even under pressure. He rarely commits errors at the back and is a player who will probably walk into the first team at Etihad. Gimenez needs no introduction as he is already in a defensive minded team.
