Quite recently, the president of Ghana, his Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo through the Education Ministry introduced the payment of allowance to professional and non professional teachers. He said that the professional teachers will receive a professional teachers allowance of an amount of one Thousand, two hundred cedis (1200 cedis) and the non professional teachers will receive an amount of Six hundred cedis ( 600).
Some weeks ago, the minister of education Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Matthew Opoku Prempeh made this known to the general public when he presented a statement of Teachers reforms to the parliament.
The minister said the reforms was made to motivate teachers to give out their best in their noble profession. He said that this will also help teachers to upgrade their skills in their profession each year. According to the minister, the minimum qualification of a teacher in the basic school was formerly a diploma in Education (DPE) but some changes has been made. It’s now a degree in the University.
