Ronald Koeman Reacts To Lionel Messi Leaving Barcelona

Koeman is officially FC Barcelona’s now coach and he has already got a huge problem: Lionel Messi wants to leave! Barca’s presodent wouldn’t be against the Argentine star’s departure. BBC News claimed that Bartomeu has privately considered the possibility of Messi leaving the club and he would be in favor of not having to pay the Argentinian’s huge salary anymore.

Did Bartomeu make this clear to his new manager? Because, Koeman doesn’t personally want to lose Messi. “I have to convince Messi to stay. If yes or no I don’t know”, Koeman reacted. Messi’s $830 million release clause is keeping interested clubs away, just like the huge contract that blinds Messi to FC Barcelona. That is an estimated annual salary of at least $83 million.

Koeman’s priority is to restore FC Barcelona’s Image. He is a former mainstay of Cruyff’s legendary Barcelona. “What we need to do is a different image than we saw last week against Bayern Munich, because that is not the Barca that we want to see”, Koeman said.

It is rumored that the new Barcelona coach wants to sign at least five players. Two offensive midfielders would be Barca’s Priority, Georginio Wijnaldum of Liverpool and Ajax’s Donny Van de Beek.

However, it seems impossible for Barca to recruit the pair. There is also talk of a return for the defender Eric Garcia, who was brought up at La Masia but made his professional debut at Manchester City. Finally, .another name keeps coming up in the Catalan press, Lautaro Martinez. Inter’s striker has been linked to Barca for months.

As for departures, a number of stars could jump ship, Suarez and Griezmann in attack, Rakitic, VIdal and even Busquets in the midfield. In defense, Pique officially announced he would be glad to leave.

A final question for the president Bartomeu, will Lionel Messi stay at Barca?. Bartomeu claimed that Messi has said it many times that he wants to end his career in Barcelona and it seems this answer is just a load of hot air.
