Cursed! Reason behind Hearts of Oak trophy drought revealed

Superstition has been a major feature in Ghana football and perhaps on the African continent. As bizarre as it as been in certain times, the belief that spiritual powers play a role in the success of teams remains significant in Ghana.

Ghana premier league giants Hearts of Oak are yet to win a major trophy since their last in the 2008-2009 season where they were crowned champions in the domestic league.

Since then the club has struggled to challenge for silverware which has triggered several suggestions owing to it.

However, there is a new suggestion that the rainbow club has been cursed by the former head coach of the side Kosta Papic.

It has been alleged that the club had promised the Serbian expatriate a whooping 100,000 dollars should he win the league.

But the league title all but secured with seven games to end the season, Hearts of Oak decided to part company with Kosta Papic to avoid paying him the 100K for leading the club to triumph.

As a result, the coach descended curses on the club to never win a trophy for the unfair treatment.

Since then the Phobians are still yet to win a major trophy after over a decade.

What’s your take? Just another folklore or Superstition actually works?
