The darkish side of each human is named Shadow. This is the darkest, deepest section of the psyche. It is the phase of the collective unconscious that we inherited from our prehuman ancestors and it carries all of the animal instincts. Because of the Shadow, we have a sturdy tendency to be immoral, aggressive and passionate.
Behaviors that society considers evil and immoral dwell in
the shadow, and this darkish facet of human nature have to be tamed if people are to live in harmony. We have to at all times restrain, overcome, and defend against these primitive impulses. If not, society will probably punish us.
It presents us with a dilemma because not solely shadow is the source of evil,
it is also the supply of vitality, spontaneity, creativity, and emotion. Therefore, if the shadow is totally suppressed, the psyche will be stupid and lifeless. It’s the job of the ego to repress the animal instincts so that we are considered civilized. The shadow seeks outward manifestation and is projected onto the world symbolically as devils, monters, or evil spirits. Example human being kills for no reason, he or she will tell you that I do not understand what came over me.
Shadow current horrible feeling, something inhuman, evil, cruel. (Jung 1956.p.92). It might include things such as envy, greed, prejudice , hate, and aggression. Jung suggested that the shadow can appear in dreams or visions and may take a variety of forms. It might appear as a snake, a monster, a demon, a dragon, or some other dark, wild, or exotic figure.
