The headmaster of Bright Senior High School in Kukurantumi was on Friday, August 7 taken in by the CID after allegations where leveled against him that he incited his students against invigilators.
Students, after the reopening of schools by the President, have started to write their final exams. The theory part of the 2020 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) – Ghana, started on Monday, August 10th, with Integrated Science being the first paper.
while some of the final year students were happy after the paper, some circulating videos that came to our notice showed some students involving in riots as they claim that the paper was too difficult and invigilators were also unwilling to help.
Same riots happened on Thursday, August 7, 2020 when some students of Bright Senior High School at Kukurantumi (Eastern Region) attacked invigilators and a journalist with the Daily Graphic newspaper.
News reaching us is that the students are alleged to have been incited by their headmaster to attack the exam supervisors and the journalist. Reports say the students were angered after the external invigilator resisted their attempts to engage in exams malpractices, which led to them beating him and a reporter with the Daily Graphic, Mr Emmanuel Pacome Damalie.
The latest update indicates that the headmaster of the school has been arrested by the police to assist with investigations. Meanwhile, WAEC says it is also conducting an investigation to get more details as to what exactly led to this violence and give appropriate sanctions.
